BEGINNER YOGA FOR EQUESTRIANS

BEGINNER YOGA FOR EQUESTRIANS

The Benefits

This series is aimed specifically at beginners but hopefully in the very near future more classes will be added ranging from a dynamic vinyasa flow through a slower hatha to a very relaxing, restorative yoga.

Yoga has multiple benefits. It:
• Builds strength (upper body, lower body and core)
• Builds flexibility/mobility
• Aids balance
• Gives stress relief
• Builds concentration
• Builds awareness both of ourselves and others (our horses!)
• Helps us to take control of our breath helping with anxiety

Beginner Friendly Classes

Yoga in some form is suitable for absolutely everybody, regardless of size, shape or health. It can be as simple as sitting watching the breath. Yoga is what happens inside you and it is not the positions that we put our body in when we take part in a physical practice.

It doesn’t matter if you can’t touch your toes or if your hips are stiff and yoga is most definitely not a competition, with anyone else or with ourselves. Yoga means union and in its simplest form is the union of mind and body which synchronise when we start to focus on the breath as we move. If you’d like to take a more spiritual look, then it’s union of the self and the powers that be (whether you consider that to be the divine or simply the power of nature).

Classes Created by...

Cathy Ibbotson

For the last 9 years I have been teaching yoga to both adults and children.

I qualified to teach with the British Wheel of Yoga back in 2012 and hold a 500 hour diploma (3 years of study). I have also done many trainings and CPD courses since with teachers such as Jason Crandell, Paul Grilley, David Swenson, Alessandra Pecorelli and Leslie Kaminoff to name but a few.

I also have 3 ponies, Bobby and Rosie are both 12 year old Welsh Section D’s and Jeffrey, my Shetland, is just 8 months old. I only ever intended to have one but they do seem to multiply!
