What You'll learn....

Learn how to make two natural potions for your equine.

In this introductory course, we will look briefly at the uses of herbs, the importance of identification, how to harvest ethically, how to dry and store your new herbs, then make up a mane and tail detangling spray/coat shine that costs nothing. You will feel rather pleased with yourself once you have made it.

All plant properties and uses discussed in this course have been evaluated in clinical studies.

This course will show you how to harness some of the wild, free plants in and around your pasture that you might once have thought of as useless weeds, and to give you a sense of how easy this can be, empowering you to be more active in the role of caring for your horse’s health and well-being.

You will not need special equipment – I am keeping my set up as rustic as possible to demonstrate this. Nor will you need skills that require years of practice.

We will also run through a few plants with multiple uses that are easy to find staples for any home herbalist, all of which will be used in my Diploma course.

The property is the last remaining house in an abandoned village, completely wild and never chemically treated. I didn’t know what most of the hundreds of plants, shrubs and trees were. I am 3 hours from the nearest horse vet and an hour from a hospital. I needed to get smart, fast. Knowing these plants and being able to utilise them, could make a huge difference to my life. “

Very well explained introduction to horse herbology.

I really enjoyed this introduction to herbology course. Having had a keen interest in using nature for remedies etc it was a perfect fit for me. Amelia explained everything in an easy and interesting way. I am very much looking forward to her other courses. Now I just need to find the plants used in the recipe ;-).

Easy to follow - want to learn more!

The course was really easy to follow (all the technology worked!) with good visuals and lots of information and links. It was very simple but a good introduction to using herbs from the field. I want to learn more!

Introduction to Herbology - Outstanding

I found this course to be fabulous. It was interesting, insightful, and thought provoking. I was able to recognize and identify many plants commonly found in our paddocks through this course. I now have a greater understanding and appreciation for the wonders of what may be referred to as weeds, but actually provide benefits for supporting wellness and remedies for common ailments. Excellent

Great introduction

I really enjoyed this well presented taster course. Loved the videos and the easy way the instructions were given. I couldn't find any mallow on our land so will be looking for a way to introduce some. Have been walking around the fields looking at plants with renewed interest. Well done!

Great course

This is a great introduction to using wild plants, all I need to do now is go out and indentify them. The mane and tail detangler looks very useful.

I’m delighted you enjoyed the course. Please do let me know when you’ve tried a “make” too.

I’m hoping next year, to be able to supply dried herbs to anyone who can’t find them, though I specifically chose wild invasive ‘weeds’ so that they were accessible to all. I should be able to offer short workshops & wild crafting breaks at my home or organise clinics at students yards as well.
